How to make the appointment go smoothly.
I would be glad to review the applicants application prior to meeting for the test if you email me the candidate's FTN number. That way if there are any issues they can be resolved before the test date. Same holds true for qualifications and your endorsements. If you would like me to review your logbook entries, endorsements or ground logs prior to the check ride see the instructions below and send them to me several days BEFORE the check ride. Over 50% of candidates arrive without the proper ground training logs or proper endorsements in their logbook. Or, I am sent on a scavenger hunt trying to find the required information in their logbook. Again, I'll be happy to help you avoid the hassle and embarrassment of improper endorsements prior to the big day.
It pains me when candidates show up for their test and are not qualified to start because of errors made by the recommending CFI's. The candidates will still be charged for the appointment even though they are not personally responsible for the proper logging and endorsements.
If you present the candidate on the day of the test and errors are found, 90% of the time they can be fixed with a stroke of your pen. In the event your candidate is found to be ineligible and you are not present, as a professional I recommend you reimburse your candidate for the appointment fee.
I encourage you to use the endorsements and required ground logs from my Helpful Links page. If you are signing pre-printed endorsements in the back of your students logbook I strongly encourage you to read them carefully and compare them with AC 61-65H to ensure they are still current and valid. Many times commercial logbooks have out of date endorsements in the back.
Document review instructions
If you wish for me to review the documents prior to the appointment date, please follow the instructions below and submit several days prior to the scheduled date. And please send everything. Inevitably errors are discovered on documents not sent to me!
- Clear hi-resolution photographs that can be zoomed in and easily read
- All photos must be orientated properly when opened. I will stop if I need to rotate photos to read
- All pages of the logbook
- All endorsements
- Ground logs
- Graduation certificates if applicable
- Written test results
- Medical certificate (front and back)
- Pilots certificate (front and back)
Submit all documents on a Google Drive. Send me the link only. Do not submit via email!
